Aussie Carley Thomas Signs With Washington

The University of Washington collected another big middle distance signing Tuesday with the announcement that Carley Thomas has accepted a scholarship offer from the Huskies. 

Thomas ran 2:01.13 in the 800 meters to take the silver medal in the IAAF World U-20 Championships in July in Finland. 

Thomas earned a second silver medal as a member of Australia's 4x400 relay team. 

She turned 18 last December. She figures to make an instant impact for Washington, which will suddenly have an NCAA title contender in the 800 when she arrives on campus.
