Started by legendary sports reporter Royal Brougham and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the 78th Annual MTR Western Sports Star of the Year this year features four Husky athletes/teams.

The Husky track and field team kicked off the season with the fourth-annual intrasquad meet Thursday night in the Dempsey, with Team Gold taking the win for the third time in four years.

Scores will be settled this Thursday evening in the Dempsey Indoor as the Husky track and field team lines up against itself for the annual Purple-Gold Intrasquad Meet, an unofficial start to the indoor track season.

The Pac-12 announced its postseason cross country awards today, with Huskies Lindsay Flanagan and Megan Goethals each earning All-Pac-12 Second Team honors.

The cross country season ran to a conclusion in Kentucky today, as the Husky women's team earned a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, while Joey Bywater represented the UW men with a 69th-place finish.

Seniors Kayla Evans, Lindsay Flanagan, and Joey Bywater have taken their share of detours during their cross country careers, but always persevered, and tomorrow morning they'll run in another NCAA Championships.

Having put in thousands of miles as a team to get to Louisville, the UW women now get to line up this Saturday for one more race, with NCAA trophies on the line. Joey Bywater reps the Huskies in the men's race.

Senior Joey Bywater from the men's cross country team has been named the GoHuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 5-11.

The entire top-five of the Husky women's cross country team plus Joey Bywater on the men's team all were named All-West Region today by the USTFCCCA.
